Only persons fulfilling the preconditions set out below can generally be considered for admission as contract employee or public official:
- Austrian citizenship or in case of deployments that are not reserved to Austrian citizens, also the citizenship of any country to whom Austria must grant the same rights for admission to professions as those granted to Austrian citizens under the European integration;
- a minimum age of 17 years applies to contract employees;
- full legal capacity (contract employees of minor age might, however, be admitted with the consent of their legal representative);
- personal fitness, in particular fitness in terms of health, and technical suitability for the post for which they are admitted (including mastering the German language, orally and in writing; impeccable background and the like).
Deviations from these preconditions can be made only in justified exceptional cases.
